In this company, two leading investment advisory companies — LightCastle Partners (Dhaka) and Larive International (Amsterdam) — are working with the embassy.

Together with Larive-LightCastle, in a series of three webinars on 8 and 9 December 2020, the Embassy is inviting business leaders, entrepreneurs, innovators, and policymakers from the Netherlands and Bangladesh to present opportunities and recognize the relevant scope for trade and investment participation between Dutch and Bangladeshi companies.

Bangladesh’s leadership chambers, industry organizations, and agencies, including BGMEA, DCCI, MCCI, CCCI, BIDA, BEZA, BEPZA, are linked to the embassy’s initiative, the Bangladesh Embassy in the Netherlands said in a press release.

Bangladesh is becoming a South Asian investment center for Europe with its emerging EEZs. It is definitely a timely and commendable initiative by the Embassy to initiate such a confluence summit to put both sides closer together in an attempt to harness the two nations’ untapped potential.

The Netherlands Enterprise Agency (RVO), the leading Dutch government agency, is also a Summit member. As far as the sectors are of concern to the Dutch side, they are economically important for Bangladesh.

Unlike conventionally organized business or investment seminars or B-to-B meetings, the event will bring a set of three sector-specific, interactive webinars where the interested Dutch entrepreneurs will engage with sector-specific panelists from Bangladesh and the Netherlands to assess ways to form a long-term collaboration with credible private sector partners in Bangladesh.

The Embassy and Light Castle Partners and LaRive will launch a first-ever, illustrative report on Dutch-Bangladesh economic commitments to date, following the investment webinars, on December 10.

The study would highlight important achievements in different economic fields, as potential areas of collaboration between the private sectors of Bangladesh and the Netherlands would also be shared.

Bangladesh has enjoyed seamless political relations and economic interaction with the Netherlands over the past five decades. Beyond ODA, through Dutch expertise, creativity, technical products, and solutions within global supply chains, there is now a growing potential for Dutch participation in various fields in Bangladesh.

Sheikh Hasina, the Prime Minister, paid a visit to the Netherlands in 2015. The Netherlands is the fourth largest country of origin for foreign direct investment in Bangladesh and the seventh-largest export destination for Bangladeshi goods in Europe. In 2019-20, exports to the Netherlands from Bangladesh amounted to about EUR 1.25 billion.
